I've always been interested in the whole healthy lifestyle thing. There was a time when I would workout 5 days a week at 10am during my break. Yes, 10am. I like to stick to a schedule. Breakfast by 8, workout by 10. Everyday. I always like having breakfast first before working out. Can't function without breakfast. Anyway, when school rolls around, I'd workout less or just stop working out. I'd always I just don't have the time but really, I was just lazy. I used to go out for jogs a lot. I used to lift (not-so-heavy) weights alot. I really enjoyed working out. I especially love doing squats and deadlifts!
Personally, I think working out is the easier bit. When I was 16, I used to eat the lauk my mom cooks but never with the rice. Just the lauk alone. Sometimes I would even eat cereal for dinner to avoid eating carbs. Yes, I am aware, cereal is full of sugar but I was naive at the time ok. Eating right is tough, especially when you have so many temptations out there! My biggest weakness is definitely chocolate. I am the biggest chocolate lover ever. My fav kind is definitely dark chocolate. Don't know what about it that's so yummy to me. Everyone I know doesn't like it because it's a tad bitter but it's so good! Another thing about why I think eating healthy is tough is because I can barely afford food that's actually good for you. Quinoa, chia seeds and almond milk are so expensive. I've always wanted to try quinoa and make chia pudding! I think the only change I've made and am still sticking to it is I've stopped consuming white bread. Not permanently though, I'd still have a bun every now and then, especially when I stop by a bakery. After consuming alternatives to white bread, I find myself not liking it anymore. Whenever I take a bite of it, I just feel grossed out in a way. And that is the story of how I got rid of my love for white bread hahaha
I think I rely on fruits and veggies the most for nutrients. If you know me, you'd know that I eat a crap ton of fruits and veggies. I love them! I could do with a lifetime supply of mangoes, cherries, grapes and avocados! Avocados are expensive here - about RM6 for one avocado. Anytime when there's a promotion, I'd stock up and make guac with it! I LOVE GUAC GUYS. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
Ok I have no idea why I decided to blog about this or where this post is even going. I just felt like writing something today. It's currently December 28th but by the time you see this, it'll probably be 2016. So happy new year!!
Anyway, since I started college and uni, I've been slacking so much at keeping my health in check. I kinda wish I didn't stop doing what I did because now, I have to start over again. You know when you do a workout after a long, long time and you just feel like hell after? I don't quite know how to put it into words but.. when your body gets used to such activities, after awhile you learn to endure it. Like when you can last 3-5 minutes when doing a plank because you're getting better at it. But when you start exercising again and try to do a plank but can only last for 30 seconds because your muscles just forgot how to function... Ya that's the best way I can explain it. THAT SUCKS. I really need to get my butt moving again.
Best of luck, self!
